Maxim Sokolov said that the Nissan plant in St. Petersburg, which will become the property of AVTOVAZ at the end of February, will soon be reformatted under the Lada brand.
“The task is quite difficult, the plant will have to be seriously reformatted. It was created for the production of Nissan cars, and completely different models will now be produced. But we intend to do everything in a short time, as usual”– said the head of the Russian automaker.
Production of three new Lada models is planned at the former Nissan factory. These will be more expensive models of the C and D segment, including sedans and crossovers. The production of cars will be carried out in cooperation with foreign companies, presumably Chinese.
So far, the head of AvtoVAZ gives a rather cautious forecast for the production of cars on the Nissan site, up to 10,000 units by the end of 2023. But at the same time, he emphasizes that “the outlook is good: the capacity of this site in the peak period is more than 110 thousand cars per year.”
