According to the press service of the organizing committee of the competition, within the scope of the Chess Stars 2023 tournament held at Vegas City Hall from January 24 to 30, world-renowned grandmasters held simultaneous games at 44 tables and took part in spectacular blind betting games.
Athletes played games with the children participating in the amateur program of the tournament. To do this, the chess players were divided into pairs: Ekaterina Lahno and Sergey Karyakin, Bibisara Assaubaeva and Teimour Radjabov, Alexandra Goryachkina and Vladislav Artemiev and Raunak Sadhvani and Sanan Syugirov.
It is not the first time that master classes for children have been held as part of the competition – a similar event was held last year as part of the Chess Stars 2022 tournament.
Among the children, the only winner was Timofey Konovalov. The eight-year-old athlete brilliantly won the endgame against Raunak Sadhvani and Sanan Syugirov.
The blindfolded winners were Alexander Grischuk and Francisco Vallejo. While the Spanish chess player had 15 minutes to beat his opponents, Grischuk’s fight was more stubborn, but in the end the athlete managed to win.
The Chess Stars 2023 tournament features ten outstanding grandmasters from Russia, Azerbaijan, India, Spain and Kazakhstan, as well as one hundred young chess players who have won the junior knockout stages.
Formerly International Olympic Committee (IOC) announcedWho sees the use of the neutral status system of Russian and Belarusian tennis players at the Australian Open as an excellent example.
