The Union of Auto Services of Russia spoke about a new case of fraud in the telegram channel.
A message from a subscriber (obviously related to car repair services) claims that such cases have already been registered with various services.
Drivers who have handed in their car for repair fall into the risk zone.
A person calls the service and finds out which of “his cars” is being repaired (don’t know – randomly). During communication with the manager, he clarifies what repairs need to be made and the estimated cost of parts and maintenance. At the end he casually asks which phone number he gave during registration and says that he left this phone in the office and asks to call another one.
Then, on behalf of the service, he calls the customer, tells what kind of repair is needed and asks for an advance for spare parts. Since all this seems to be true, the unsuspecting customer transfers the required amount to the fraudster’s card.

Service managers are asked to pay more attention to cases where the customer is not present at the service and clearly “does not remember” what kind of car he left in the repair zone.
And car owners, in order not to fall into the bait of scammers, should clarify in advance whether remote prepayment may be required and from which number they call from within the service. If you have any doubts, hang up and call back yourself.
