Many media wrote about this original project of the ex-McDonald’s. The Vkusno-i Tochka restaurants are reportedly going to recycle old cooking oil into biofuel so that it can then be used in electric buses.
The network of Russian restaurants Vkusno-i Tochka can supply 3,000 tons of used cooking oil per year.
However, State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans partially refuted this information. The issue of using biofuel for heating electric buses has only been worked on so far. To do this, it is necessary to prepare the appropriate infrastructure, the oil must first be cleaned. Once the process has been traced, the company waits for proposals from various suppliers.
Any company whose raw materials meet the required parameters can participate in tenders for the supply of biodiesel for Mosgortrans electric bus heaters.
Remember that electric buses are often criticized for using diesel for heating in winter, which reduces the environmental impact of this type of transport.
