Volkswagen has confirmed the end of Arteon production, a design standout in its lineup. After halting the liftback in 2023, the last Arteon Shooting Brake rolled off the Osnabrück, Germany, assembly line. This milestone was reported by Motor.ru.
Sales in the competitive Chinese market were weak, and the Arteon also struggled in Europe. In 2020, the model was officially supplied to Russia for about six months.
Earlier reports noted the presence of the Chinese automaker Changan in Russia, where three crossover models were sold. An inspection of Changan’s official site shows that CS85 Plus, second-generation CS75 Plus, and CS95 have concluded their Russian sales. The CS55 Plus was renamed Uni-S.
Mercedes-Benz is shifting its electric lineup, with the EQS production model undergoing adjustments rather than a simple halt.
The present EQS is slated for a 2025 update, after which it will be phased out in favor of newer platforms. The update will bring an 800-volt electrical system to enable faster charging.
The successor to the EQS is expected to be a next-generation S-Class, available in both battery-electric and internal combustion variants.
These shifts occur as several Chinese brands that operated in Russia are expected to withdraw from the market by 2025.
