Prices for used cars in the Russian market have continued to ease for a second consecutive month, according to the analytics firm Avtostat (Avtostat). The latest data show that the average cost of a pre-owned passenger vehicle in November hovered around 1.19 million rubles, marking a decline of about 2.5 percent or roughly 30,000 rubles from October’s level (Avtostat).

Analysts explain that an uptick in listings is widening the pool of available vehicles, giving buyers more choices and putting downward pressure on prices across all segments and age groups. In addition, higher-value, newer models are increasingly appearing in the market, making it easier for buyers to locate options that feel like “fresh” purchases while still offering value (Avtostat).

There is a consensus among observers that the trend toward lower prices for secondary-market cars could persist in the near term. A comparison with November of last year shows a different picture, with prices up by about 29 percent or 268,000 rubles from the 2021 baseline, underscoring how fast the market has shifted over the past year (Avtostat).

Industry participants from traditional Russian dealerships note a growing presence of newly imported foreign vehicles under grey-market arrangements, as buyers seek alternatives to officially available stock. This dynamic is contributing to broader price dispersion and influencing the mix of inventory available to consumers (Avtostat).
