Uganda has entered into a formal agreement with KAMAZ to establish a factory dedicated to building trucks for export across the African market. This confirmation came from Uganda’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Moses Kizige, in an interview with RIA Novosti. The plan signals a strategic push to expand industrial output and strengthen trade links between Uganda and wider regional markets.

Beyond vehicle manufacturing, the ambassador noted that Uganda has begun producing its own electric vehicles as part of national efforts to protect the environment. He did not rule out the possibility of exporting these Ugandan electric vehicles to Russia in the future, highlighting a vision for cross-border collaboration in sustainable transport solutions.

“We have just started, but one day we will export Ugandan electric vehicles to Russia”, the diplomat remarked, underscoring the country’s commitment to developing an indigenous EV ecosystem and tapping into international demand for cleaner mobility options.

The ambassador also observed growing interest from Russian investors in Uganda, pointing to recent efforts that issued visas to a number of Russian businesspeople. This activity suggests a renewed confidence in Uganda as a destination for investment and manufacturing partnerships, particularly in sectors aligned with infrastructure development and technology transfer.
