Following the import substituted frets, UAZ presented a similar level of performance. Patriot models and pickups that have undergone identical modifications are already appearing at dealers, and one of the first examples has been reviewed here.
What’s the price?
The initial version of the Classic costs 1,545,000 rubles, with pickups priced 25 thousand rubles higher.
The new configuration is called Base Icarus and offers several options.
Without a driver’s airbag and with a Chinese BAIC gearbox instead of the Korean Dymos, the price drops by 25 thousand rubles.
Without ABS, another 5,000 rubles are deducted.
If the ZMZ Pro engine is changed from the fifth eco-class to the second, another 20 thousand rubles are reduced.
The absence of an airbag led to a steering wheel redesign, returning to a wheel reminiscent of the nineties.
The transfer case is again controlled by a lever rather than a rotary ring.
For example, the cheapest UAZ Patriot on today’s market costs 1,495,000 rubles, not including state program discounts or dealer markups.
Top versions and models with automatic transmission still retain the premium pricing.
But some dealers are offering simplified cars at suggested retail prices.
And factory output now includes mainly these simplified configurations.
What about comfort?
As with the Ladami, removing certain security systems does not sacrifice comfort. On Ikara, air conditioning can be added for 40 thousand rubles, a rear differential lock for 48 thousand, a winch with steering rod protection for 71 thousand, and a large package for 250 thousand that includes heated front seats and windshield, climate control, a media system, parking sensors, alloy wheels, and fog lights.
The ZMZ Pro engine remains rated at 150 horsepower and 235 Nm, with the same flow and performance.
The control unit uses Itelma instead of Bosch, and the ABS block is located on the left wheel arch.
The brake booster is Chinese rather than Czech.
What is the result?
Those testing the new Patriot or pickup should act quickly.
First, pre-crisis stock remains available with ABS and airbags, though savings are modest.
Second, in certain aspects the simplified cars offer advantages. UAZ still has stock of Dymos gearboxes, so a Patriot found might come with a Korean box, even though the official specification and price indicate a Chinese BAIC box.
Externally, 2022 Patriots and pickups can be identified by the absence of chrome on the grille, with the rear nameplate remaining in silver.
What about other UAZ models?
Anti-crisis versions have appeared in the price lists across the lineup. ERA-GLONASS is installed where factory availability allows and does not affect price. The BAIC gearbox has been explained to everyone. The simplified versions cannot be offered everywhere. Cars with zero eco-class engines are cheaper by 20 thousand rubles. The passenger version loses 25 thousand due to the removal of ABS, and the only option removed is the rear differential lock for 48 thousand.
The Hunter sees a 20 thousand ruble reduction by moving from the 135 hp ZMZ-40906 fifth eco-class engine to the 112 hp ZMZ-40911 zero eco-class, and by dropping ABS. An additional 15 thousand is saved by switching the gearbox from Dymos to BAIC, and a rear differential lock is not included.
The Truck Pro model allows saving 10,000 rubles on the driver’s airbag and 5,000 rubles on ABS. The eco-class downgrade is not highlighted, but the Pro uses the same ZMZ Pro engine as the Patriot and Pickup and is therefore considered a second-level variant.
Requires 7,000 tires in common sizes
