In Shchelkovo, just outside Moscow, two young individuals were detained following a courtroom order that required them to remain at a designated address. The authorities noted that the defendants have no registered residence or permanent residence within the Russian Federation and are not officially employed. They admitted guilt in connection with the alleged crimes. As a result, the court placed them in custody with a pretrial detention period running until January 24, 2024, reflecting the severity of the charges and the ongoing investigation as reported by the Shchelkovo city prosecutor’s office.
Previously, authorities reported the detention of two residents from a Central Asian republic who were involved in the assault on a 76-year-old pensioner who refused to let them into the car. The information came from the press service of the Moscow region police headquarters, detailing the sequence of events that led to their apprehension.
The incident occurred around 4 a.m. on November 15 in Shchelkovo. According to police statements, two intoxicated individuals halted a vehicle on the road, entered the car, and violently assaulted the elderly driver. They demanded that he drive them to a specific address in the Zarechny microdistrict. Although the victim managed to escape the initial confrontation, the assailants pursued him, continuing the beating and causing damage to the vehicle in the process. The attackers’ actions prompted a rapid police response and subsequent investigations centered on motive, identity, and accountability for the injuries and property damage sustained by the victim.
