STLC has completed the delivery of twenty electric trains to the Central Suburban Passenger Company for operation on Moscow’s central diameters. The fleet comprises eighteen EP2D units and two Volga 3.0 (EGE2Tv) trains, manufactured by Transmashholding enterprises. The total investment for this transportation project amounts to approximately 19 billion rubles.

Eugene Dietrich, CEO of STLC, stated that the introduction of these modern trains will elevate daily travel comfort and enhance mobility for residents. He emphasized the longstanding reliability of CPPK as a customer and expressed anticipation for continued collaboration aimed at renewing the suburban passenger fleet and expanding route options.

Electric train EP2D

EP2D trains, built at the Demikhov Machine-Building Plant as part of Transmashholding, feature soft seats with USB charging, climate control with air disinfection, and a wireless Wi-Fi network. They also offer additional handrails for standing passengers and bicycle racks. Front wagons are equipped with folding ramps, wheelchair supports, and spacious toilets to improve accessibility.

Volga 3.0 (EGE2Tv)

Oriole 3.0, also designated EGE2Tv, was developed by TMH Engineering using domestically sourced components. It marks the first Russian-designed electric train with a top speed of 160 km/h, produced entirely within the country. Wider doors speed up passenger flow by about 15% compared with similar models on the domestic market. Each seat unit includes a charger, and the main car can be equipped with a charging station for electric scooters and a dedicated space for bicycles.

The Moscow Central Diameters form a linked network that functions as an underground-like metro corridor. The initial diameters launched were MCD-1 (Odintsovo-Lobnya) and MCD-2 (Nakhabino-Podolsk). The arrival of modern, energy-efficient transport improves urban and regional accessibility while reducing environmental impact in Moscow and its surrounding area.
