Single-Vehicle and Multi-Vehicle Collision In St. Petersburg Involving Law Enforcement and Ride-Sharing Cars
A major traffic incident occurred in St. Petersburg, involving a patrol car from the traffic police, two ride-sharing vehicles, and a taxi. Reports from 78.ru indicate the crash unfolded on Engels Street as vehicles were turning onto Gdanskaya Street.
Eyewitnesses described how the patrol car veered into the oncoming lane and collided with a taxi, followed by a collision with a car-sharing vehicle. The sequence suggests a violation of lane discipline contributed to the chain reaction, according to initial observations from onlookers.
Officials from the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region noted that investigators were focusing on aBMW-identified car-sharing vehicle approaching in the opposite direction. Authorities indicated the goal was to stop the driver to verify documents. In the same moment, the driver of the Geely Coolray allegedly did not yield to the patrol, which caused the Skoda to strike the Geely, cross into the oncoming lane, and hit the car-sharing car.
As a result of the collision, the carpool operator and a 30-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries and received medical care at the scene before being transported to a hospital for further evaluation. Police officers continued their duties after ensuring medical assistance and securing the area, according to the department’s statement.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, and authorities reported substantial damage to the patrol vehicle.
Beyond this incident, reports have emerged about the theft of a Lamborghini from a car wash in Moscow, with details still under investigation.
