Saipa expands into the Russian market with initial hatchbacks and sedans

An Iranian automaker has announced its plan to enter Russia. In the initial phase, the compact Quik hatchbacks along with the Saina and Shahin sedans are slated for delivery to Russian customers. Looking ahead, Saipa intends to import light commercial vehicles, including pickups, from Iran to broaden its lineup in the Russian market.

The first shipments will arrive under a parallel import framework while Saipa concurrently seeks the Vehicle Type Approval that is required for official sales. This dual approach allows the brand to begin selling in Russia even as formal certifications are pursued.

Note: the broader rollout involves several strategic steps. Preliminary price guidance ranges from one million to 1.7 million rubles, varying by model and configuration. The current warranty covers eighty thousand kilometers or two years, with discussions underway to extend this to 100,000 kilometers or three years as the distributor negotiates with Saipa.

There is also consideration given to locating production facilities in St. Petersburg, though the specific factory footprint has not been disclosed. Beyond imports, Saipa aims to establish a robust local presence by opening as many as 120 dealer centers across Russia in time for the sales launch.

Earlier this year, Saipa signed a distribution agreement with the Russian company Best Motors to supply three distinct car types to the Russian market. The company has not ruled out additional collaborations as part of its regional expansion strategy.

For those following the development, an update on the Saipa entry can be found in industry coverage and official press notes. Videos related to the brand and its announced models are accessible through the brand’s YouTube channel. Cited from a Russian newspaper source for the latest details.
