Russian authorities have implemented steps to steady fuel prices, yet retail gasoline costs continue to climb, according to statements attributed to Vladimir Putin. The remarks were reported by RIA News.
Putin noted that the price movement is understood and that the overall trend will unfold in line with oil market dynamics. He suggested that while producers are fulfilling their roles, additional actions by the government, in collaboration with manufacturers, are necessary to curb price growth at the pump.
He emphasized that retail prices are rising despite existing measures, and stressed that consumer concerns should be met with tangible results, not with broad explanations about global factors.
Earlier, on September 21, the government announced temporary restrictions on exports of gasoline and diesel fuel aimed at stabilizing domestic fuel prices. This decision was intended to prevent further price shocks within the national market.
According to the government’s decree, the export ban is temporary and does not apply to members of the EAEU or to humanitarian aid shipments.
Maxim Kadakov, who formerly served as editor-in-chief of the magazine Behind the Wheel, offered an assessment suggesting that fuel prices may hold steady through the end of the year, barring unforeseen developments.
