Two months before a parking permit expires, a renewal reminder will appear in the user’s mos.ru personal account and be sent by email. For residents to receive this service, they simply need to opt in to notifications.
To participate, users must hold a standard or full mos.ru account with up-to-date information. Drivers using simplified accounts are required to complete the renewal request themselves.
Additionally, Moscow has introduced two convenient updates for large families: permits now cover the entire period of the family’s large-family status, not just a fixed three-year span. The processing time for permits has also been shortened from six to three working days.
Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport, stated that officials are expanding online services to let residents apply for government services remotely while increasing convenience. He noted that families with many children can issue permits that align with their large-family status. Every year, more motorists choose online applications for permits, with about two out of three motorists now preferring the portal for applications and changes. The update will benefit motorists who apply for parking permits, a group that numbers over 200,000.
Submission Rules
Parking permits for residents or large families can be requested in the Services section under Transport on the mos.ru portal. The issuance or update of a residence permit takes six working days, while approval for a large family takes three working days, and cancellation takes one working day. The results are delivered to the user’s personal account and automatically recorded in the appropriate registry.
From now on, Muscovites can issue, extend, modify, or cancel parking permits for residents or large families solely through the mos.ru portal. Previously, permits could also be obtained at city multiplex centers.
***
Resident parking permits allow free parking in paid areas near the resident’s home from 8:00 pm to 8:00 am, or around the clock for an annual fee of 3,000 rubles. Families with many children may park for free on all city streets at all times. An exception applies to trucks, buses, and vehicles designated for people with disabilities or those who transport them; permit holders must use general parking spaces with a barrier rather than special spaces.
