In the first half of November, price changes appeared across seven car brands in Russia, according to a report by analytical agency Avtostat referencing experts on the Price Auto site. The trend shows a broad shift in sticker prices as automakers adjust for market and supply factors during the autumn period.
Among the domestic brands, AvtoVAZ pushed up the prices of several popular models, including the Lada Granta, Lada Vesta, and Lada Niva. The increases ranged from about 6.4% to 9.7%. Notably, the Niva Travel SUV saw a price uptick of up to 106,000 rubles. The changes reflect a strategy to balance margins amid fluctuating production costs and distribution expenses. Another homegrown brand, Evolute, announced higher prices for its electric crossovers, the i-Sky and i-Joy, with increases spanning from 8.1% to 14.5%. The i-Joy carried the largest jump, rising by as much as 505,000 rubles, highlighting the premium positioning of certain electric models during a period of evolving charging infrastructure and incentives in the market. Moving to Chinese brands, Skywell’s model lineup saw price hikes between 100,000 and 600,000 rubles, translating to increases of roughly 2% to 11.5% depending on configuration. The GAC GS8 became 300,000 rubles more expensive, while the Dongfeng DF6 pickup’s price rose in the 10,000 to 50,000 ruble range, again varying by trim. A version of the Forthing T5 Evo SUV also registered a 50,000-ruble increase. Source: Avtostat via Price Auto.
Additionally, UAZ disclosed a rise in delivered costs to official dealers, prompting a new charge. Since November 1, the company has implemented a partial delivery cost compensation of 50,000 rubles. This means vehicles purchased through dealers carry an added cost of 50,000 rubles, with price percentages varying by model in the 2.4% to 3.8% range. In contrast, two Chinese brands, Chery and Omoda, announced reductions on select models, softening price pressure for some buyers. Source: Avtostat via Price Auto.
The broader question from industry observers remains: how will AvtoVAZ adjust prices in the remainder of 2024, and what trends might this set for the market in early 2025? Analysts monitor components such as exchange rates, import costs, port logistics, and domestic sentiment as key factors shaping short-term pricing moves across the sector.
