During a meeting in the Federation Council focused on advancing the automotive sector, Maxim Sokolov, the head of AvtoVAZ, outlined several legislative ideas. He noted that additional proposals would be posted on the Federation Council site alongside topics already under discussion. He mentioned that the taxi market is currently broad in terms of automobile product consumption and suggested exploring a rule to encourage the use of highly localized, Russian-made cars by taxi fleets. He also touched on the possibility of using maternity capital to purchase the first locally produced car, emphasizing domestic manufacturing. This point was highlighted in a report by TASS, quoting Sokolov.

Allowing maternal capital to be spent on a car could strengthen the financial support available to young families while driving sales of domestically produced vehicles, Sokolov argued. This stance has been echoed by many experts and by members of the State Duma. For many young families, owning a car represents a crucial factor for mobility and daily life, especially when caring for children.

Questions of this kind have drawn attention from senior officials. For instance, Yana Lantratova, vice-chair of the State Duma Committee on Education, has already forwarded a proposal to Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova requesting that maternity capital be usable for purchasing a vehicle. The discussion underscores a broader policy aim: to bolster family mobility while supporting domestic automotive production. (Source: TASS)”
