A 39-year-old man reported to the police in the Moscow region that four unfamiliar cars traveling together on the M-2 Krym highway at the 76th kilometer forced his foreign vehicle off the road. When the cars stopped, the assailants began beating him, according to MVD.Media.
Investigators identified a 27-year-old resident of Chekhov as one of the participants and took him into custody.
Further inquiries showed that the detainee, along with accomplices, had been carrying out similar provocations since 2021: they set up traps for drivers traveling along the roadside, boxed in their vehicles, and sparked collisions. Afterwards, they staged fights and filmed the episodes to post on social networks. One video hosting site drew the police’s attention to the material connected with these actions.
Authorities are now seeking additional accomplices and reviewing other incidents of the group’s random activities.
As a result, the Investigative Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has opened a criminal case against the city of Chekhov under Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Earlier reports in the media mentioned a phenomenon described as “sidewall hunters” — bloggers who incite accidents and disputes in which drivers attempt to bypass traffic jams by moving along the roadside.
