In the fourth quarter this year, the Omoda brand, part of the Chery group, will start selling the E5 electric crossover in European markets. The company announced that the model is also planned for a Russia debut in the first quarter of next year, signaling a broader push into strategic regions. The move underscores Omoda’s aim to expand its footprint beyond its existing line-up and to introduce a distinctly modern electric option to competing crossovers in these markets.
Unveiled in October at the Geneva Motor Show in Qatar, the Omoda E5 is powered by an electric motor delivering 204 horsepower and 350 Newton-meters of torque. The vehicle is designed with a high-efficiency charging profile, using a consumption rate of about 15.5 kilowatt-hours per 100 kilometers. Its ideal range is listed at 430 kilometers on a full charge, emphasizing a balance between daily practicality and longer-distance capability. With rapid charging technology, the battery can move from 20% to 80% in roughly 30 minutes, a feature that addresses the needs of busy urban drivers and long-distance travelers alike.
The E5 introduces a refreshed front-end design compared with the Omoda C5 currently sold in Russia. Notably, the E5 eliminates the traditional radiator grille and features a redesigned bumper, contributing to a crisper, more streamlined look. Inside, the cabin centers around a dual-screen cockpit, where two 12-inch displays merge into a single, cohesive interface. The interior stays true to Omoda’s contemporary aesthetic while preserving the familiar layout of the gasoline-powered models, ensuring a seamless visual language across the brand’s EV and internal combustion offerings.
At present, the Omoda lineup available in Russia includes the C5 crossover, the S5 sedan, and the GT variant, forming a compact family of models under the Omoda banner. This strategy mirrors a trend toward electrification and diversified body styles within the region, offering customers a mix of compact utility, sedan practicality, and sporty design cues. The easing of supply and adaptation to local conditions are expected to influence how the E5 and related models enter the Russian market, positioning Omoda as a modern option in the changing automotive landscape.
Historically, the region has seen mixed brand presence, with earlier appearances of the Oting lineup alongside Nissan models. This background provides context for Omoda’s current approach, which aims to build consumer recognition through a clear, value-focused package and recognizable design elements. The gradual introduction of the E5 and related models fits into a broader pattern of regional product rollout, where new electric crossovers complement existing offerings while expanding the brand’s footprint in Europe and neighboring markets.
