In Kuban, a motorcyclist who fled from a traffic police vehicle assaulted one of the officers to avoid penalties for riding without proper documents, according to the Telegram channel Kub Mash. The incident began when traffic police stopped Igor Sholokhov, who was riding a Yamaha YZF-R6, for lacking a license. Officers invited the rider to the station to draw up an administrative protocol. As a police car lined up to depart for the station, Sholokhov opened his door, bolted from the vehicle, and attempted to disappear.
Law enforcement officials pursued him and a confrontation ensued. The pursuit ended with the motorcyclist being detained. As a result, a criminal case was opened against Sholokhov for using violence against a government representative, and a court later sentenced him to nine months of imprisonment in a penal colony. The authorities stressed that the decision reflected the seriousness of the violation, especially in light of the attempted escape and the assault on an officer who was performing official duties.
Earlier reports noted in Bashkiria that an 18-year-old drunk driver drove three children and caused an accident, resulting in the death of one child. Kub Mash provided coverage of that incident as part of a broader look at traffic safety and the consequences of driving under the influence.
