KamAZ, the Russian truck maker, paused production at the end of December to observe national holidays, as confirmed by the company’s press service.

According to the announcement, main assembly lines were shut down starting December 30, 2023. The holiday period for KamAZ workers extended from December 30, 2023, through January 8, 2024, with production set to resume on Tuesday, January 9.

The manufacturer noted that, despite current challenges, the primary objectives laid out for KamAZ PJSC in 2023 were carried out and completed across its divisions.

Looking ahead to 2024, KamAZ outlined plans to continue modernizing its production facilities, advance the K5 truck series, and expand the range of passenger transport models. The company also indicated ongoing work on the P6 engine family and the development of the Compass vehicle lineup, along with several other initiatives. (Note: Compass vehicle series updates are reported by official KamAZ communications.)

Earlier communications indicated that KamAZ had established a practice of paying quarterly bonuses to employees. In January 2024, workers were scheduled to receive bonuses for October through December 2023. The payout scheme included an increasing coefficient based on years of service and a decreasing coefficient tied to absenteeism, plus deductions for personal time off and extended leaves in certain circumstances. Specifically, missing up to three days in the three-month period could reduce the bonus to 7,000 rubles, while four days to a week of absence might halve the amount. Workers with more than five years of service could earn a quarterly bonus of 11,500 rubles.

In related notes, there have been reports about ongoing developments such as the RoboCop dump truck project, which involves the use of approved components in its partial assembly. (Source: KamAZ corporate updates.)
