The Kaluga facility, once home to the Volvo plant where Kaluga Next trucks are assembled, is set to double its daily output. This update comes from TASS, citing Roman Petryaev, the general director of Automobile Motor Society, the company behind the project.

“Since late November, we have not only brought the operation out of idle time but also established a fully functional assembly line. We are now following the production schedule and expect to manufacture 12 Kaluga Next off-road trucks each day”, Petryaev told the agency.

He added that talks are underway with a foreign industrial partner as part of the expansion. At present, the site puts together six trucks daily, reflecting a steady ramp-up toward the new goal.

The Kaluga plant, which in autumn 2023 transitioned to the control of Industrial Investments, a group of companies allied with businessman Dmitry Strezhnev, has also hosted the assembly of Ural 6×4 trucks under a distinct brand name within its facilities.

Meanwhile, Irbit Motor Plant, once known for producing Ural motorcycles, has announced a six-month production pause. This shift marks a broader realignment in the region’s automotive and motorcycle manufacturing landscape.
