IDEX 2025 in Abu Dhabi Opens With Broad Russian Exhibit
The international military-technical exhibition IDEX in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, opened on February 20 and runs through February 24. From Russia, dozens of companies and organizations are participating, presenting more than 200 samples and exhibits for attendees to study.
Overall, more than 1,300 companies from 65 countries are taking part this year, with tens of thousands of visitors expected from around the world. The sheer scale of the event highlights the ongoing global interest in defense technology and international collaboration in security technologies.
Among Russia’s combined exposition, the organizers allocated a dedicated pavilion that has become one of the most visited areas. This reflects strong interest in Russian defense capabilities and the wider role of multinational cooperation in regional security and defense modernization.
The exhibition includes the AU-220M combat module featuring a 57 mm automatic cannon, the Ka-226T multipurpose helicopter, and a range of modern gun systems, anti-missile defense solutions, and more. Russian companies are also engaging with international partners to discuss cooperation opportunities for developing new products and establishing joint ventures, a facet of interest to many visitors, particularly from Middle Eastern markets looking to expand capabilities and diversify supply chains.
For the first time at IDEX abroad, a missile control unit of the Tornado-S multiple launch missile system was presented, illustrating improvements in targeting accuracy by a significant margin across various ranges. The display of this system underscores ongoing efforts to enhance precision and effectiveness in modern artillery and defense operations.
New optical instruments, surveillance systems, and compact prismatic sights such as the PP1 and PP3, along with the small reconnaissance and signaling complex 1K144-E, were showcased. The lineup also features the T-90MS tank, a familiar platform in several national armed forces, the Sprut-SDM1 light floating self-propelled gun, the TOS-1 flamethrower system, and the BMPT Terminator tank-support vehicle, among others.
The extensive Russian exhibit at IDEX demonstrates how Western sanctions have not halted the country’s defense capabilities. It also signals a continued openness to trade and cooperation with friendly nations and partners around the world who are seeking reliable defense products and strategic collaborations.
