The Honda driver ran a red light in New Moscow and was promptly stopped by the traffic police. When asked to present documents, the driver suddenly accelerated, dragging the inspector for several tens of meters.
The police officer ended up in a snowdrift, and the responsible driver fled the scene. A manhunt is underway to locate him.
“The senior police lieutenant requested medical assistance before continuing his duties”, authorities reported.
The vehicle owner has a long history of traffic violations. In 2022 he accumulated 270 fines, all of which remain unpaid. Following the incident, investigators opened a case under Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, concerning the use of force against a public official. (RIA News)
