Haval M6 and Factory Pace in Tula: Update on Production Plans

The Haval plant in Russia’s Tula region has begun initial test assembly of the M6 crossover line, but officials and analysts agree that this stage is far from signaling mass production. Industry observers from Avtostat, citing the factory’s communications team, note that trial builds are ongoing as part of process validation rather than an indication of imminent full-scale output.

At present, the Tula facility manufactures several existing models. The compact Jolion remains in production alongside the refreshed F7 crossover and the F7x fastback-crossover sibling. The mid-size Dargo continues to be produced, complemented by the rugged H9 frame SUV. These vehicles form the core lineup at the plant and demonstrate the factory’s versatility in handling multiple product lines for the Russian market.

Haval first delivered the M6 to Russia in the summer of 2023. The model rolled out with a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine rated at 143 horsepower and 202 Nm of torque, available with both manual and robotic gearboxes to suit different driver preferences. This powertrain combination aimed to balance performance with affordability for domestic buyers.

On the feature front, the M6 is equipped with conveniences and safety aids that are expected in modern crossovers. Buyers typically find automatic climate control, cruise control, and a rearview camera paired with parking sensors. A large multimedia screen anchors the interior, while LED headlights provide enhanced visibility. In terms of active safety, the vehicle offers automatic emergency braking, as well as assist systems for uphill starts and downhill control to aid in challenging terrain or weather conditions.

Earlier industry roundups highlighted the broader picture of the global automotive market. In November, China reportedly maintained its leadership in car sales with a robust result surpassing previous records. The month contributed to a global total of more than 8 million light vehicles sold across the world, underscoring the ongoing demand shifts across regions and segments.

In the Russian context, earlier reports noted a slowdown in Chinese-brand sales domestically following a steep rise in the Central Bank’s key rates. This macroeconomic backdrop remains a key factor for pricing strategy, consumer financing, and market timing for automakers operating in Russia.
