On the night of February 14, the suspect consumed a noticeable amount of alcohol and, adopting a toy gun, set out with the intention of gaining from another’s loss.
With late hours leaving many stores closed, he targeted a working gas station instead. Approaching the cashier, he demanded money from an employee while brandishing the toy firearm, attempting to terrify and coerce a quick surrender.
In response, the female employee fought back with a mop, all while she alerted her supervisor to the unfolding event. The attacker interpreted the phone call as a signal to summon law enforcement and fled the scene in a state of shock. The gas station manager, who arrived shortly after, managed to detain the suspect at the premises and immediately notified the police.
The 27-year-old resident of the village of Taraberdino, with prior convictions, was brought to the local police station where he admitted to the act. A criminal case has been opened under Part 1 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, covering theft and related unlawful actions.
