Frame SUVs represented 4.5% of the used-car inventory on the Avito Auto platform in January 2023. The typical asking price for a frame SUV reached 1,850,000 rubles, while the overall average price for all used cars stood at 800,000 rubles.
In January of the previous year, the top three models in demand were the Toyota Land Cruiser, the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, and the UAZ Patriot. This snapshot highlights how frame SUVs have stayed relevant in the market, with specific models consistently drawing attention from buyers.
Gender trends showed men opting for frame SUVs more often than women, with 17% of male respondents selecting this category compared with 11% of female respondents. When evaluating the perceived strengths, owners repeatedly cited strong off-road capability as the leading advantage of frame SUVs, followed by durability/reliability and comfort, in that order.
Regarding what matters most to buyers, men tended to place greater emphasis on payload capacity, whereas women often prioritized comfort features. Payload appeal was noted by 37% of men versus 29% of women. Comfort was highlighted by 51% of women, underscoring a preference for smoother, more accommodating interiors among female buyers.
On the drawback side, buyers pointed to higher fuel consumption, elevated ownership costs, and the challenge of parking large-frame vehicles as the main disadvantages. These concerns reflect a trade-off between rugged capability and practical daily usability.
When it comes to usage patterns, 58% of respondents indicated trips into outdoor areas as the primary purpose for owning a frame SUV, 46% saw the vehicle as a family car, and 44% used it for travel beyond everyday errands. The data underscores a versatile role for frame SUVs, balancing adventure readiness with family and long-distance practicality.
