FAW Bestune B70 Updated Liftback to Hit the Russian Market in Summer 2024
The Chinese automaker FAW plans to bring the refreshed Bestune B70 liftback to Russia this summer, according to Autonews.ru. The new version keeps a clear focus on modern styling and improved features while maintaining the practical appeal that drew buyers to the model in the first place.
In the home market of China, the updated Bestune B70 is offered with a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that delivers 224 horsepower and is paired with a six-speed Aisin automatic transmission. It is front-wheel drive only. When announced for Russia, the price will be released closer to the start of sales, with the current discussion pointing to a figure around 30 thousand yuan at market exchange rates, equivalent to roughly 1.6 million rubles at publication time.
Design changes on the updated FAW Bestune B70 include two-layer front optics, a sleeker radiator grille with horizontal slats, redesigned bumpers, and an exhaust system featuring trapezoidal pipes. The model can be equipped with 18- or 19-inch wheels, and inside, buyers will find a refreshed instrument cluster and a new gearbox selector that aims to improve ergonomics and driving feel.
Exact pricing for the Russian version will be announced as the sales launch approaches. The approach mirrors how automakers often stagger introductions, sharing technical details first and then final MSRPs closer to the date cars go on sale.
In related market news, February data shows that Geely sold 12.3 thousand cars in Russia, a figure that represents a 3.8-fold increase over the previous year. This milestone positioned Geely as the leading foreign automaker in the Russian market for the first time, underscoring the growing demand for Chinese automotive brands in the region. Among Geely’s lineup, the mid-size crossover Monjaro stood out with 4.8 thousand units sold in February, highlighting a strong reception for the model among Russian consumers.
This trend aligns with broader expectations that prices for Chinese cars in Russia have been easing, making these models more accessible to a wider audience. As brands continue to adjust their local strategies and offer more competitive pricing, the market remains attentive to how new updates and model refreshes will influence consumer choices in the coming months (Autonews.ru).
