The Russian Ministry of Transport has announced the full integration of the ERA-GLONASS emergency system with all existing Systems-112 platforms. According to the ministry, completing this nationwide integration across 85 regions marks a critical advancement in protecting lives and reducing injuries on the country’s roads.
ERA-GLONASS delivers crash details to emergency services in roughly 19 seconds on average. The data include precise accident coordinates, vehicle category, fuel type, and the extent of damage, enabling responders to arrive faster and with the right equipment.
The system operates independently of witness reports, automatically triggering notifications to emergency responders when an incident is detected. It already connects to a large network, with more than 9.2 million vehicles linked to ERA-GLONASS and a surge in activity since early 2023, when motorists made over 2.3 million calls and more than 15,000 confirmed alarms were routed to 112 rescue services.
- Previous announcements indicated that mandatory installation of ERA-GLONASS devices on all imported cars could be reconsidered in 2023.
- Recent communications emphasize the ongoing role of ERA-GLONASS in improving emergency response and road safety.
The Ministry of Transport emphasizes that the system’s rapid data transmission and automatic alerts contribute significantly to reducing response times and coordinating rescue efforts across regions.
