Russian carmaker AvtoVAZ, collaborating with ATS-AVTO LLC, has begun producing and selling a dual-fuel version of the Lada Granta sedan. The announcement comes from the companies’ official press channels and marks a notable step in expanding alternative-fuel options within the lineup.
All configurations of the Lada Granta equipped with air conditioning now include a gas power system alongside the standard gasoline setup. The Lada Granta CNG variant runs on both traditional petrol and compressed natural gas methane, providing flexibility for drivers who want to switch between fuels. The LPG installation is engineered with safety in mind: it features a built-in fuse and a high-velocity valve in the gas cylinder to minimize the risk of explosion or uncontrolled release if fuel equipment is compromised.
The gas cylinder is located in the trunk space, a design choice that preserves passenger seating while keeping the system out of the cabin. On average, the dual-fuel setup consumes about 6.1 cubic meters of gas per 100 kilometers. With LPG equipment, a Lada Granta can cover roughly 1,000 kilometers between refueling stops under typical driving conditions. The additional cost for installing the dual-fuel system is listed at 45,000 rubles, reflecting the investment in automotive flexibility and emissions considerations.
