Citymax 9: A modern mid‑range city bus on a new platform
Citymax 9 represents a mid-range urban bus built on a newly developed platform. The vehicle length is 9 meters, as indicated by its specification index. The interior is designed to accommodate 77 passengers, and developers claim it offers the largest floor area in its segment at 10 square meters. Looking ahead, the Citymax family is planned to expand with models up to 19 meters in length and a capacity of up to 200 passengers, broadening the range between compact city runs and longer urban routes.
Alongside PAZ, other units within the GAZ Group will participate in the rollout of the new lineup. The initial production version will feature the familiar YaMZ-534 diesel engine, paired with a domestic automatic transmission. The drive system will rely on a locally developed transmission, with localization expected to reach about 90 percent, reflecting a strong move toward domestic manufacturing and supplier integration.
Future updates are expected to include gas and electric Citymax variants, expanding the environmental options available to operators. The design makes use of corrosion‑resistant composite materials that reduce weight while maintaining strength and durability. The standard equipment package includes a kneeling feature that lowers the floor at stops, an electric ramp for wheelchairs, LED interior lighting, climate control, and a storage area designed for wheelchairs and strollers, complemented by seats with soft lumbar support for added passenger comfort.
