Outside

The exterior refresh on the crossover is subtle, described by the manufacturer as primarily cosmetic. The updated model can be told apart by a redesigned front bumper with sharper lines and new daytime running lights that sit horizontally rather than vertically.

Other tweaks include rear windows with a screen-print style look, black roof rails replacing the old silver, and brake calipers finished in a sporty red. The roof rail lighting previously offered on the top trim is no longer available.

The Chery emblem on the rear has moved under the fused side-light assembly, a design change that adds a stylish touch while shielding the badge from the elements. Overall, the crossover bears a stronger resemblance to its hybrid sibling.

Inside

Inside, the Tiggo 7 shows more noticeable changes. The dashboard now features two linked 12-inch displays that are curved toward the driver for better visibility.

The central tunnel area has been redesigned, and a brown interior option has been introduced alongside the existing black theme. In the brown variation, some elements remain dark, which may not please every eye; the ceiling trim stays light.

The driver still has three choices for the digital instrument panel design, but there are four accessible touch buttons to the left of the display for quick actions such as disabling the start-stop system or stability control. The climate control unit moves closer to the driver, positioned just below the multimedia screen, and the transmission lever, which has a crystal-like finish, now features a painted tiger head that glows in low light.

The glowing tiger head is a nod to the Tiggo name, rooted in the predatory image associated with the model. The updated Tiggo 7 Pro Max removes the manual gear shift mode, which had allowed independent gear changes in earlier trims.

The front seats have been widened slightly and offer greater lateral support, with an added ventilation option. The multimedia system supports wireless connections with smartphones, enabling wireless CarPlay.

CarPlay works wirelessly, addressing the reliability issues some users reported with the wired setup in the previous version.

There is some discussion about the emergency button location. Engineers placed it where reaching it would be awkward, reflecting regional differences in how drivers use the hazard switch.

The refresh also introduces wireless charging for devices, two USB ports including a front USB-C, and more convenient cup holders. At night, new ambient lighting creates a striking, refined cabin mood.

On the technical side

The updated Tiggo 7 Pro Max is offered in two drivetrains: front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. It rides on the T1X platform, with a familiar suspension setup: MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link arrangement at the rear. The only engine option remains a 1.6-liter turbo producing around 150 horsepower for models with either drivetrain.

A 1.5-liter engine is no longer available on front-wheel-drive versions. The transmission is a seven-speed robotic DCT with two wet clutches.

Compared to the earlier model, the updated crossover is more comfortable to drive thanks to revised shock absorbers that soften the ride. All-wheel-drive versions ride on Chinese-American Cooper tires with 19-inch rims, which are one inch larger than before, and wheel designs have been refreshed.

Improved sound insulation is achieved through double front side windows, with tire noise creeping into the cabin only at speeds above 100 km/h. The all-wheel-drive variant adds three extra driving modes: Off-road, Mud, and Snow, alongside the standard Normal, Eco, and Sport modes.

Ground clearance remains at 190 mm across all versions.

What about the prices?

The update clearly adds value with a fresher design, a refined interior, and expanded equipment. Prices have risen, with each version increasing by 50,000 rubles. The entry-level Active front-wheel-drive model starts at 2.77 million rubles, while all-wheel-drive variants begin at 3 million rubles. The top-end Ultra all-wheel-drive version is priced at 3.3 million rubles.

The brown interior, black upper body paint, panoramic roof, a full set of driver-assist features, dual-panel side windows, and ventilated seats are available on the higher trim levels.
