The Toyota Land Cruiser leads Bahrain’s market in 2021, capturing a notable share as the year unfolds. In the first nine months of 2021, the Bahrain light-vehicle market advanced 8.7 percent to 18,363 registrations, with Toyota continuing to hold a commanding position despite a slight dip of 2.1 percent. Toyota’s overall stake remains ultradominant at 38 percent as the market shows broad momentum. Nissan stands out with a robust 33.9 percent gain, climbing to a 10.6 percent share, while Lexus adds 4.2 percent for a 7.2 percent slice of the market. Isuzu and MG also posted striking gains, rising 41.6 percent and 25.7 percent respectively and helping to lift the rest of the top ten. Other brands such as Mazda, Kia, Honda, and Hyundai also contributed to healthy growth, with Mazda up 9.1 percent and Kia, Honda, and Hyundai reporting modest gains as well. Mitsubishi, however, declined 17.4 percent, slipping to the 10th position. Notable performances extend beyond the top tier, with Haval climbing to 14th and Genesis surging an impressive 234.6 percent. Hino, Infiniti, Cadillac, Ford, Changan, and Jeep also posted substantial gains, underscoring a broad market uplift.
In the model ranking, the Toyota Land Cruiser mirrors the market’s positive trajectory with an 8.8 percent increase, sitting at the top with 11.3 percent of sales. The Nissan Sunny shows remarkable momentum with a 69.7 percent rise, and the Isuzu TF follows closely with a 51.4 percent surge. The Toyota Corolla and Hiace round out the top five, each reporting strong gains of 8.9 percent and 37.1 percent respectively. The Toyota Yaris climbs to sixth place with a 62.3 percent leap, overtaking the Lexus LX and a significantly softening Toyota Hilux, which fell 42.6 percent. The Toyota RAV4 also contributes a solid 65.7 percent gain, rising to ninth, while the Camry retreats slightly by 8.3 percent to close the top ten. Among newcomers, Haval H6 and Haval Jolion appear on the scene around positions 38 and 47, while Nissan Xterra and Kia Sonet mark their presence at around positions 50 and 75, signaling new model competition shaping the market.
