AvtoVAZ has begun assembling engines for the Lada Iskra, marking a key milestone in the model’s development. The plant has started production of the 1.8-liter power units for Iskra, while components for the 1.6-liter variants are being prepared to support additional configurations.
In the powertrain lineup, the base Iskra engine is a 1.6-liter unit delivering 90 horsepower and paired with a five-speed manual transmission. A more athletic 1.6-liter option generates 106 horsepower and can be paired with either a six-speed manual or an automatic transmission. This range gives buyers choices in performance and convenience, depending on their driving style and needs.
Lada Iskra will be offered in sedan, station wagon and Cross body styles. The Cross version is equipped to meet more demanding uses, featuring three rear headrests, a Vesta-style multifunction steering wheel, power windows on all doors, air conditioning and a built-in sound system. The color options include gray, brown, red and white.
Industry observers note that AvtoVAZ plans multiple product introductions for 2025. The company is expected to present an urban crossover in the B+ class during the year, while the Vesta Sport is slated to appear in the market in the second quarter. There is also a plan for a new version of the Niva SUV branded with the Sport suffix.
Mass production of Lada Iskra is scheduled to begin in March 2025, with sales anticipated in the first half of the following year. This timeline underscores a broader push by AvtoVAZ to refresh its lineup and expand into new segments while maintaining its traditional models.
Earlier reports indicated that AvtoVAZ had started producing a powerful SUV, signaling a broader push to refresh the lineup and expand in the growing segments.
