Avtodom to Start CKD Vehicle Assembly in Its Own Facilities by 2023
Dealerholding Avtodom plans to assemble cars within the production facilities of its own subsidiaries by 2023, using a CKD approach. The company stated that Avtodom is growing beyond automotive retail and intends to set up industrial assembly operations in its own plants, adopting CKD methods for local production.
CKD, or completely knocked down, involves assembling a full vehicle from components and subassemblies received from the original car manufacturer. Several manufacturing steps will be performed domestically at the local production site.
At this time, the specific car models to be assembled via CKD have not been disclosed.
Mercedes-Benz announced its withdrawal from Russia at the end of October. It was also reported that the automaker sold its assets to Avtodom, including a plant in the Moscow region, along with its dealership network and associated financial operations.
