Autonomous Guided Vehicles at AVTOVAZ
AGVs are electric, self-guided carts that navigate factory floors without human input. At AVTOVAZ, these trolleys follow a predefined path marked by a magnetic tape on the floor and rely on Wi-Fi powered communications to stay on course. Since their introduction in 2017, they have become a dependable backbone of shop-floor logistics, shifting from imports to in-house production within the plant.
Equipped with advanced sensors, the AGVs assess their surroundings, detect obstacles, and adjust their route in real time. They transport goods across the facility, and some units are capable of handling more complex tasks as processes evolve.
Several key divisions have placed orders for 120 carts, signaling strong confidence in the technology. Engineers continue to refine the design, pushing for greater reliability and efficiency.
Ongoing ideas focus on enhancements and problem solving. Some components sourced from abroad are slated for replacement with locally available alternatives to increase resilience and reduce supply chain exposure.
AGVs operate with quiet efficiency and, in a way, set a rhythm within the factory. The system once had the name Kalinka Malinka and now carries a newer identity that symbolizes a refined orchestration on the shop floor.
