The Alfa group of companies has taken on the role of official distributor for the Swedish truck maker Scania in the Russian market, marking a significant shift in how the brand is represented locally. The European parent company transferred its Russian assets to Alfa, including the headquarters, a network of service centers, and a dedicated training facility, effectively consolidating Scania’s presence under a single regional partner.
Prior to September of this year, Scania operated in Russia through its subsidiary Scania Rus. In September 2022, the Swedish automaker announced its decision to withdraw from the Russian market, halting direct operations under the Scania Rus umbrella. The transition to Alfa as the distributor comes at a time when the dealer network remains a crucial channel for customer access and brand continuity.
Under the new arrangement, the existing Scania dealer network in Russia, estimated at around eighty locations nationwide, continues to serve customers with the same brand portfolio and aftersales support. Alfa’s stewardship aims to preserve this continuity while ensuring compliance with local market conditions and regulatory requirements. Despite the shift in distribution, the plan does not include restarting local assembly production in the vicinity of St. Petersburg, where operations had been paused, reflecting strategic decisions about production localization versus import-based sales for the region.

Participants are invited to participate in the Behind the Wheel Grand Prix vote, a nationwide effort to identify the year’s most notable car introductions. The activity provides a platform for enthusiasts, fleet managers, and everyday drivers to express their opinions on the latest models and innovations that have made an impact in the market.
As a token of appreciation for taking part, a drawing will be held among survey respondents offering three prizes. Everyone who completes the questionnaire will be eligible for a chance to win, with a cut-off date set for late February. The event is designed to engage the community and foster informed discussion about new vehicles and features that matter most to buyers and operators across the country.
