After the increase in the recycling fee in Russia from October 1, 2024, car prices will increase significantly. This was told by Renat Tyukteev, Deputy General Director for sales of new cars of the Avilon automobile group, socialbites.ca. On average, cars with an engine capacity of up to three liters will increase in price by 100-200 thousand rubles in the fall.

“The cost of cars with engines over three litres will increase even more. Price increases will have less impact on brands with deep localisation, where growth will be adaptive rather than forced,” Tyukteev said.

According to him, the prices of some cars will not increase immediately due to the abundance of stock in warehouses. So far, dealers’ and distributors’ warehouses are full of cars purchased before the scrap collection surge.

Meanwhile, some car companies have started to reduce discounts, while others have increased sales and retail prices. Thus, AvtoVAZ has increased the prices of Lada cars for the fourth time in a year. Some Geely, Belgee, Chery and UAZ models have become more expensive.

Previously reportedIt was reported that congestion had already occurred on the border between the Russian Federation and China before recycling collection increased.
