The driver suffered an attack while coming from Tyumen. Suspecting something was wrong, Kochurov pulled the truck to the side of the road, but the trailer skidded onto the highway and hit a passing car. Traffic police who arrived at the scene of the accident determined that the driver of the heavy truck was using alcohol or drugs. As a result, the man died of paralysis on the road for six hours until his colleague arrived at the scene and called an ambulance.

During the trial, it was proven that Kochurov violated traffic rules already in an unconscious state. The investigation into the case of negligence of traffic inspectors was undertaken by the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin.
