Moskvich plans to produce hybrid cars

The Moskvich automobile plant is evaluating the possibility of producing hybrid cars with greater range. reports TASS, citing Moskvich production director Oleg Maslyakov.

“We are now examining hybrid technologies very carefully. From our communication with Chinese partners, we see that the EV trend is declining. And now more and more options for hybrid cars are emerging in the minds of engineers,” Maslyakov told the Russian Industrialists forum.

In the Moskvich presentation, it is stated that the plant plans to produce a new model under the M2 symbol and the M5 hybrid model in the future by 2027. Restyling of existing cars is also planned.

According to Oleg Maslyakov, the company is carefully working on hybrid cars with increased range that can drive up to 2 thousand km without recharging.

Currently, the Moskvich plant assembles Moskvich 3 gasoline crossovers, Moskvich 6 liftbacks and Moskvich 3e electric crossovers.

Formerly Dacia declassified third generation Duster crossover.
