The lineup of the top selling car brands in 2022 shows a clear split. Leading the pack were Lada, Kia, Hyundai, Renault, and Chery, with the Chinese brand Chery rising into the top five by selling 39,256 vehicles. By comparison, AVTOVAZ moved 174,688 units, highlighting the wide range in market performance between the leaders and the rest of the field.
Trailing behind the top five were Haval, Toyota, Geely, Skoda, and Volkswagen. Among the ten most popular brands in Russia, three are Chinese. These brands posted gains over the previous year, while the others saw substantial declines. Overall, the Russian car market ended the year down by 58.7 percent.
When looking at models, the top ten best sellers for 2022 included Lada Granta, Lada Vesta, Kia Rio, Lada Niva Travel, Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, Hyundai Solaris, Hyundai Creta, Haval Jolion, Lada Niva Legend, and Renault Duster. These ten models accounted for 13,468 units sold at the time. Not far behind was Geely Coolray, securing a strong position just moments behind the leading names. Among the models, Tiggo 7 Pro, Jolion, and Coolray were noted for posting positive sales dynamics in 2022.
