According to the analytical company, Jato Dynamics passed Tesla for electric vehicles in the European Union in the first quarter of Volkswagen 2025. For this reason, Tesla stopped being a leader in the electric vehicle market in the specified region. About it reports Business Insider (BI).
In the first three months of 2025, 65,679 Volkswagen batteries were recorded in the EU compared to 53.237 Tesla car.
The German car manufacturer increased by 157% in records compared to the first quarter of 2024. At the same time, Tesla records decreased by 38% for the same period.
According to JATO, this was the most important decrease among the most recorded 30 car brands.
This decrease in Tesla positions occurred during the period when the Battery electric vehicle market in the EU reached the summit. The first quarter of 2025 was registered in terms of recording bev. In March, the battery electric vehicles made up 16.9% of the total number of records of new cars, which were 2.7% more than the previous year. The driver of the main driver is the British market, where volumes increase by 13%.
Despite the loss of leadership among brands, Tesla Model Y and Model 3 models maintained the positions of the two most recorded batteries. In March, the model Y recording decreased by 43%, while the model increased by 3%. Volkswagen ID.4 was third for the quarter of the registration, which was behind about 2000 models.
