At the upcoming CES 2025, the HDMI Licensing Administrator (HDMI LA) will officially introduce the new HDMI 2.2 standard. This is evidenced by the invitations to the press event sent to the media. Details on the technology features have not yet been announced, but HDMI 2.2 is expected to significantly exceed the capabilities of the current HDMI 2.1 standard. about this reports WccfTech publication.
It is known that HDMI 2.1 supports resolutions up to 10K, 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 120 Hz, as well as Dynamic HDR technology. Considering HDMI LA’s claims of “increased bandwidth and resolution” for HDMI 2.2, we can expect even more impressive features of the new standard.
So far, no GPU manufacturer (NVIDIA or AMD) has publicly confirmed HDMI 2.2 support, so the timing of integration into next-generation graphics cards remains unclear. Experience with DisplayPort 2.1 shows that it may take months or even years for new interface standards to become widely adopted.
CES 2025 will take place in Las Vegas from January 7-10, 2025.
