Scammers are actively using video and audio deepfakes to trick Russians during Black Friday and other November sales. about this RIA Novosti said the head of the cybersecurity department of the Security Code company Alexey Korobchenko.
He emphasized that deepfakes have become widespread recently thanks to artificial intelligence technologies. Attackers hack both ordinary users and popular Telegram channels and send malicious links encouraging them to purchase certain products. Scammers also use video and audio deepfakes aimed at convincing buyers that they are legitimate.
Korobchenko noted that popular websites, online stores and marketplaces were actively imitated during the sales period. Scammers create fake accounts of well-known brands or trading platforms on social networks and instant messengers and send newsletters on their behalf.
