Qualcomm has revealed the performance of the overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, which turned out to be more powerful than the iPhone 16 Pro’s chip. The portal reports this iXBT.
So the base version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite comes with a wide core frequency of 4.32 GHz, which is a record for smartphone chipsets and comparable to some x86 compatible processors found in computers.
However, Qualcomm showed that the new chip can be overclocked even further and reach a frequency of 4.57 GHz. In this way, in the Geekbench test, the processor performance reaches 3407 and 10,875 points in Single-core and Multi-core tests, respectively. This compares to the Apple A18 Pro on the iPhone 16 Pro, which scored around 3,500 and 9,100 respectively.
Thus, the overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite can reach the same level as the single-threaded performance solution from Apple, which has long been the leader in this regard. It is possible that the overclocked version will be available first on Samsung smartphones and then on other flagship devices, as is the case with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy and Leading Version.
