An update with support for super resolution and text recognition in photos is now available to members of the Windows Insider program. about this says On the company’s website.
The latest update to the Photos app brings Super Resolution to Windows 11 24H2 computers with Snapdragon ARM chips and Copilot+ AI computers. Insiders connected to Canary, Development and Release Preview channels can already take advantage of this new feature.
With Super Resolution, users can enhance images by increasing their resolution (size) by up to 8 times. This function is suitable for improving old low-quality photos and preparing images for printing.
Super Resolution uses the Neural Processing Unit (NPU) in Copilot+ PC to provide fast, efficient image processing directly on your device without the need for a cloud connection.
While Super Resolution only works on Copilot+ computers, image text recognition works on all devices running the latest version of Windows 11.
To access the new features, you need to update the Photos app in Microsoft Store to version 2024.11100.17007.0 or later. The update is available for download now, but not all users may be able to download it immediately.
