A court in Turkey blocked Discord, a popular chat and search platform among gamers. This was reported by NTV News.
The blocking took place within the scope of “regulating publications on the Internet and combating crime”.
The measures in question were taken upon the request of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. Ankara First World Criminal Court decided to remove all publications related to the service and block access to the specified URLs from Turkey.
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç said that the platform distributed information about “child sexual abuse and obscene content”.
He added that social media providers and websites that do not remove content as part of the investigation or comply with court orders will be subject to fines, advertising bans, bandwidth limitations and access blocking.
