The first unmanned long-distance trains could enter service in Russia in 2030. This was announced by the head of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov at the plenary session of the International Forum “Digital Transport”. “News”.
Belozerov noted that initially the driver will sit in the train cabin as a safety net, which is necessary to control traffic safety.
“I think this can be done before 2030,” the head of Russian Railways said.
According to Belozerov, today freight and passenger trains of Russian Railways already have a sufficient number of automatic control functions.
At the end of August, Russian Railways for the first time started unmanned train “Swallow”. The train moves independently, but the driver is located in the cabin for control and also opens and closes the doors. This is called the third level of automation.
Previously in the Moscow metro I started testing LTE network for launching unmanned trains.
