Iconic Apple designer Jony Ive, one of the main creators of the iPhone, has confirmed that he is involved in the development of an innovative artificial intelligence device together with OpenAI. The project, which is in its early stages, could attract up to $1 billion in investment by the end of the year and promises to revolutionize the way humans interact with neural networks. In this regard reports Edition of The Verge.
Ive’s collaboration with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman was discussed in the media almost a year ago and has now been officially confirmed. The project could lead to the creation of a fundamentally new class of mass computing devices by combining expertise in AI and hardware.
The concept of the device is based on the power of generative AI, which can do more for users by processing complex queries more efficiently than traditional software. The details of the project remain secret, but it is known that the funding was provided by Ive himself and the Emerson Collective, among other things.
The project could reportedly attract up to $1 billion in investment by the end of this year. There are currently 10 people working on the device, including key people who worked with Ive on the iPhone. The device was designed by LoveFrom, a company founded by Ive.
LoveFrom co-founder Marc Newson confirmed that the specifications and timeline for the generative AI product are still under development, suggesting that the device is in a very early stage of development.
