The author of the Hardware Tested YouTube channel tested AMD Ryzen 5 5500 and Ryzen 7 3700X processors in modern games in Full HD resolution together with the flagship GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card. The portal reports this Ferra.
So, in Red Dead Redemption 2 at ultra graphics, both processors showed an average performance of 120 frames per second (fps). In Forza Horizon 5 at high graphics, the Ryzen 7 3700X reached 170 fps, while the Ryzen 5 5500 reached 165 fps. In the Fortnite shooter at medium settings, the Ryzen 7 3700X showed 188 fps, while the Ryzen 5 5500 – 194 fps. In performance mode, performance was 255 fps (3700X) and 245 fps (5500).
The more demanding Cyberpunk 2077, at high graphics settings, without DLSS, and with ray tracing enabled, ran at 86fps on the Ryzen 7 3700X and 90fps on the Ryzen 5 5500. Counter-Strike 2 on the Ryzen 7 3700X produced 231 frames per second, and the Ryzen 5 5500 – 228fps. In Microsoft Flight Simulator at high graphics, the Ryzen 7 3700X reached 61fps, while the Ryzen 5 5500 reached 72fps.
So in games, excluding games where DLSS is used, the average FPS difference between Ryzen 7 3700X and Ryzen 5 5500 was only 1%. The blogger tested the processors in a total of 14 games. The test used a setup with an MSI RTX 4090 24GB 3X E OC VENTUS graphics card and 32GB RAM (2x16GB) DDR4 3200MHz CL18.
