Unlike traditional ad blockers that automatically hide banners, Apple is offering a more flexible approach that should prevent issues with accessing sites that block AdBlock users, for example.
At the same time, Control Distraction is not a full-fledged ad blocker, as hidden elements will return to their place when the page is reloaded. Also, since the hidden elements list is not synchronized between devices, banners removed on the iPhone will still be visible when you open the page on a Mac or iPad.
Control Distraction is available in beta versions of Safari and iOS 18, iPadOS 18 with macOS Sequoia. An exact release date for the feature has not yet been announced, but it may become available to users with the release of iOS 18 in the fall.
